GRC cladding

GRC cladding is a thin, textured skin for walls. It can look like sandstone, granite, rough stone or board-marked concrete, and it is far lighter than the stone it imitates, so it can go on upper floors and existing walls.

How cladding is made and fixed

  1. Texture sample

    We cast a sample of the texture and colour for your approval.

  2. Panel layout

    The wall is laid out in panels with corner returns, so courses and joints line up.

  3. Casting

    Panels are cast with the texture moulded in, then cured and checked for colour.

  4. Fixing

    Panels are fixed with anchors or adhesive from a level line, and the joints finished.

Questions about GRC cladding

Is GRC cladding heavier than tiles?

It is heavier than a ceramic tile but much lighter than natural stone of the same appearance. We confirm weights and fixings for each wall.

Can cladding be used on a compound wall?

Yes. It is fixed to the wall with anchors and the top is finished with a GRC coping that sheds rain.

Can cladding be fixed to an existing wall?

Yes, over sound plaster or concrete. We check the wall first; loose plaster has to come off.

Will the colour fade?

Integral pigments run through the whole panel, so they wear slowly. Painted finishes are renewed like any exterior paint.
